A few weeks ago the internet went crazy over the words of Ayesha Curry; wife of NBA star Steph Curry.

Even though in the social media world this topic is old I still had some thoughts I wanted to share. Now me being a woman who likes to carry myself with respect and dignity I found no issue with her words.  But for some reason this beautiful young married mother of two was judge for expressing her opinion. I have pseveral issues with the negative attention her comments received.

First I am aware that we live in a day and age where showing your body gets more likes then inspirational quotes. Where careers are made by sleeping with the hottest celebrities and breaking the internet with nudes photos is an accomplishment that makes the 6’o clock news. But have we completely lost our sense of morals where now we belittle those who want to remained clothed and doing things in a way their children could mirror.  Its extremely disheartening to see that my children will grow up in a world that will make them feel weird for wanting to be lady-like or a gentleman.  Well I refuse to lose hope that there are people still out there that are bold enough and strong enough to stand up for what they believe is right.

Ayesha's opinion is much like means in this respect. I feel compelled to let our youth and young women know that its ok to be a "good girl" or respectable woman. Even though what is being shown on TV, social media, movies or at school is saying the opposite. There are many women and men that want to live a life they can be proud of.  Everyone is not "doing it"!  It may be hard to do the right thing but its not wrong.

    Defeating Procrastation

The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied. Proverbs 13:4 says

Procrastination is a very destructive mechanism. It can be an enemy in our pursuit of success and purpose. So we as believers should declare the victory over procrastination every chance we get. Many times we tend to put off what is important because we think of it as a daunting task like filing taxes, writing a term paper and paying bills.

Some people fall into procrastination because of fear of not being able to complete the task due lack of resources, time and confidence.

Let’s suppose the task for someone is to produce a blog post or clean the attic or even create a  family budget. Chances are we put off these tasks and wait until the last possible moment to try to do them. And many times we never come back to it. The worse thing about procrastination is that when we put off a task for a later time, we begin to fall short in the rest of the dealings of the day. Many of times our mind remains occupied by the thoughts of the delayed task, and we give ourself continuous mental torture until we complete the task. All day we are thinking about what we have put off. And it many times distracts us from the things that are right in front of us needing our attention.

I have experienced this myself, failing to get a postal stamp to put on an important letter that needs to go in the mail. This usually stays on my mind and heart until I finally complete the task.

Because we allow ourselves to get involved in other worthless activities and slowly withdraw into a passive mode, where we can not do physical or mental hard work.

Be encouraged because there is good news; we can pull off what seems to be a defeat with only a bit of discipline! The key to overcoming this is to not let procrastination overcome you.

Try this: Do your most important task first every morning. Discipline yourself to do so for at least a couple of months until you create a habit.

Discipline, determination and a deep desire to succeed are important in defeating procrastination. You can do it ........ just believe!!!!!

    Meditate on the word:

    Proverbs 12:24 ESV

The hand of the diligent will rule, while the slothful will be put to forced labor.

    Ephesians 5:15-17 ESV

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

    Luke 9:59-62 ESV

To another he said, “Follow me.” But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” And Jesus said to him, “Leave the dead to bury their own dead. But as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” Yet another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but let me first say farewell to those at my home.” Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”

    Philippians 4:13 ESV

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

    James 4:17 ESV

So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.
